From Chattanooga to the Sea

The Civil War was won and lost in the state of Georgia. This simple fact, while increasingly recognized by Civil War scholars, has not yet penetrated the consciousness of a wider public. In preparation for the sesquicentennial of the Atlanta and Savannah Campaigns, eHistory.org has embarked on a massive GIS mapping project of the many major and minor engagements that took place in the state. Coupled with a projected speakers' series and traveling exhibit, From Chattanooga to the Sea seeks to reclaim the importance of some of the most valuable "Civil War real estate" in the country.
